International Day of Play: Creating an appetite for lifelong learning.

At Concero, we recognise that play is more than just fun— it’s a powerful learning tool. That’s why we’re celebrating International Day of Play. Children are born with a natural curiosity and drive to learn, so play allows them to grow, create, and learn in so many different ways. Read below to discover how!

The Importance of Play

Holistic Development:

Play, whether through drawing or imaginative play, contributes to a child’s physical, cognitive, emotional, and social development.

Problem-Solving Skills:

Building in Minecraft Education or creating stories with Microsoft Reading Coach is a fantastic way to play in both Primary and Secondary school, involving problem-solving. Children develop critical thinking, experiment, and find solutions. Play encourages resilience and adaptability.

Language and Communication:

Writing stories and engaging in imaginative play enhance language skills. Children express themselves, develop vocabulary, and learn to communicate effectively through this.

Social Interaction:

Play offers chances for social interaction. Whether working together creating a game in Purple Mash or playing interactive games using Clevertouch, children can learn teamwork, empathy, and conflict resolution effectively.

Play as a Learning Tool

Play isn’t just about fun—it’s a fundamental part of education. Here’s how play contributes to learning:

Active Exploration:

Play enables children to explore their environment actively, absorb information through hands-on experiences, and retain information effectively as a learning tool.

Creativity and Imagination:

Drawing pictures through Microsoft Paint and inventing stories using Scratch can stimulate creativity. Children create their worlds, invent characters, and explore limitless possibilities.

Emotional Well-Being:

Play reduces stress and anxiety. It’s a safe space for emotional expression, where children process feelings and learn emotional regulation.

Our aim

As we celebrate the International Day of Play, our goal is to encourage educators to recognise play as a fundamental part of education. By incorporating play into lessons, we not only make learning more enjoyable but also enhance its quality.
